Rains lashed Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district for the entire day on Friday, causing flooding in the Malana valley. Due to the continuous heavy rains here, rivers and rivulets are flowing on the banks and the situation has reached close to the danger mark. The only bridge to Baladhi village in The Manikarna Valley was washed away in the Malana creek, bringing the movement of people in the village to a complete halt. According to locals, the bridge was the only means to connect the village to the main road. Now the people of the village are facing a lot of trouble after the bridge was washed away. There is a demand from the administration that some other arrangement should be made at the earliest so that the village can be contacted. The Kullu Disaster Management said the administration was monitoring the situation and appealed to people living near rivers and rivulets to remain alert. The management said that based on the information received from the DPCR, the Coffer Dam built in the Malana-I Hydro Power Project has partially collapsed due to sudden floods. A hydra, a dumper, a rock breaker and a camper and a car were washed away in the incident, though no casualties were reported in the accident. The water level of Parvati river has risen due to incessant rains and flash floods. Apart from this, there have been reports of some temporary bridges being washed away from Parvati creek in the district. At the same time, incidents of landslides and washing away parts of roads have also been reported in some places. No major accident has been reported at present. Meanwhile, a wooden bridge in Malana was washed away, cutting off contact with the creek. On the other hand, there has been another landslide in front of Pandoh Dam in Mandi this morning and before the Baglamukhi Ropeway on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway. Due to heavy rains, large boulders from the hill fell on the road due to which the highway has been completely blocked. Administration and NHAI teams have reached the spot and work is on to remove the debris. At present, vehicular movement on this road has been stopped in view of safety. The bridge connecting Pohal village here has also been washed away in the water, due to which the contact of this village has also been lost. Dc Kullu Torul, a Ravish, said that after the sudden flood in Malana Dam 1, the machinery installed for the ongoing work in the dam was also washed away due to the water. Along with this, some vehicles parked here have also come under its grip. He said the cofferdam constructed by the Malana power project had suffered some damage due to the sudden rise in the water level. After this, due to the rise in the water level, 1 hydra, 1 dumper, 1 rock breaker and another vehicle got stuck in it, although there was no loss of life here, but due to continuous rain, there is also a danger in Manikarn Bay.
