Kalyan Banerjee and Mahua Moitra Controversy : Trinamool Congress (TMC) party MP Kalyan Banerjee on Monday (August 4) resigned as the chief whip of the TMC in the Lok Sabha. He has taken this decision after the incident of a dispute with MP Mahua Moitra and a quarrel with Kirti Azad. Kalyan Banerjee has resigned after a virtual meeting of TMC MPs chaired by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

According to sources, Kalyan Banerjee is likely to reconsider her decision shortly after resigning from the post of TMC's chief whip.
