Auction begins in Patan tobacco sub-yard for the second year: Rs 2326 price fetched on the first day, farmers get a fair price

The second year of auction has begun at Gujarat's largest tobacco subyard in Patan. On the first day, the price of tobacco was recorded at Rs 2326. Farmers from Patan, Banaskantha and Mehsana districts are coming here in large numbers to sell their produce, where they are fetching good prices with cash and proper weights. The sub-yard is spread over 30 bighas of land and is considered to be the largest tobacco yard in the whole of Gujarat. Due to the presence of big buyer traders, farmers from North Gujarat are reaching here with tobacco in large quantities. Last year too, the market yard recorded the largest tobacco trade in Gujarat, due to which other traders have also joined the shopping this year. Beautiful arrangements have been made in the market yard including pucca sheds for the farmers. It has been ensured that farmers get fair prices for their produce, transparency in weighing and payment in cash immediately after sale. Due to the high tobacco crop in North Gujarat and the good trader-farmer relations at Patan, the revenue of goods has increased. APMC Chairman Snehal Patel and Director K.C. Patel said that about 45,000 to 50,000 sacks have started earning now and the farmers are getting a satisfactory price.
