Sri Lanka Cricket Nuwan Tushara: On the one hand, there is an earthquake in Bangladesh cricket. Sri Lanka is not far behind in controversies. Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Thushara filed a case against Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for not getting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in IPL 2026. Regarding Thushara's plea, the SLC has informed the Colombo District Court that it will file an objection against the petition filed by the fast bowler. The next hearing in the case will be on April 23.
What's the matter?
This whole matter is related to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board not getting the NOC. Foreign players are required to get an NOC from their country's board to play in the IPL. Fast bowler Nuwan Thushara had said that he played for RCB after getting NOC in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. However, he was not given an NOC citing failure to meet the standards of the new fitness system.
When will the next hearing take place?
Nuwan Thushara had stated in his petition that if he did not get the NOC, RCB would replace him in the IPL 2026 season. He was bought by RCB in the mini auction for Rs 1.60 crore. Tushara said that if they do not get the NOC, they will suffer in terms of earnings and future opportunities. But the Sri Lanka Cricket Board will object to Thushara's argument and the matter will be heard next on April 23.
