Iran will hold consultations with Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Zangezur corridor in the wake of a US brokered peace deal between the two Caucasian neighbours. Iranian’s foreign ministry said that high-level talks with Armenia and Azerbaijan will be held on August 11 and 12. Tehran has long been in talks with Yerevan and had previously encouraged both Armenia and Azerbaijan to finalize a peace agreement, Baghaei added.Iran’s foreign minister said he will hold a phone call with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan within the framework of the countries’ ongoing mutual consultations. He also said he expected to speak to Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on August 11. The Iranian foreign minister also said that Armenian deputy foreign minister was scheduled to travel to Tehran on August 12. The statement comes after a US-brokered peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan was signed at the White House on August 8.
