- Demand to take 25 random samples of water from each ward every day to prevent the epidemic from spreading
The problem of contaminated water continues as there is no coordination between various departments of the corporation.
- Proposal to increase intra-domestic operations
Vadodara, July 15, 2023, Saturday
With cases of water-borne and mosquito-borne diseases rising in Vadodara like every monsoon, the opposition has demanded immediate steps by the corporation to ensure that the pandemic does not spread further. In particular, 25 random water samples from different areas from each ward of the city every day and water samples from areas with dirty water complaints have been proposed to be released. It has been suggested to make the data of government hospitals area-wise public, the problem of dirty water should be solved within 24 hours and where there is a complaint, an alternative water system should be created immediately.

Apart from this, wherever there is a shortage of staff in the malaria / filaria department of the corporation, it has also been asked to immediately recruit temporary recruitment and monitor the functioning of the intradomestic. A representation has been made to the Mayor and The Commissioner to ensure that all citizens get typhoid vaccine free of cost in all government hospitals, including primary health centres and community health centres. There has been a significant increase in cases of diarrhoea, vomiting and fever.
A total of 3,275 cases of water-borne diseases such as diarrhoea and vomiting, 211 cases of typhoid and 177 cases of mosquito-borne diseases chikungunya, dengue and malaria have been reported since January 1 this year. There is a need to start the work of collecting samples of water that the corporation has blocked for years in Vadodara city. Due to lack of coordination of ward, distribution, project department and drainage department, the supply of contaminated water to the citizens continues for months.
Where there is a complaint of contaminated water, the distribution of water should be stopped immediately and water supply should be started through tankers so that people do not fall prey to the disease. There has been a lot of increase in the infestation of mosquitoes due to the accumulation of dirty water, rainwater on the construction site as well as in the slum area. Monitoring of intradomestic operations can be tightened to monitor all this.
