Under the 'Operation Yatri Suraksha' being run by the Vapi Railway Protection Force (RPF), two persons have been arrested in separate incidents for stealing mobile phones from Vapi railway station. The stolen mobile phones of the passengers were returned by the CPDS team of RPF through secret surveillance and prompt action. The first incident took place on April 5 near the main entrance of Vapi station. While the CPDS staff was patrolling, a man was seen taking out a mobile from the pocket of a sleeping passenger and running away. Vigilant staff cordoned off him and caught him. The arrested man was identified as Amit Kushwaha (resident of Daman). A POCO 5G mobile worth Rs 8,000 was recovered from him. The passenger, Dharmendra Thapai (resident of Kachigam, Daman), identified his phone. GRP Vapi has registered a case in this regard and further action is being taken. In another incident, on April 8, a man named Rajesh Londe (R/o Geeta Nagar, Vapi) was caught red-handed near the ticket booking office near the eastern main gate of the station. He was stealing the mobile from the pocket of a sleeping passenger. A VIVO Y19S 5G phone worth Rs 10,000 was recovered from him. In both these cases, the accused and the accused have been handed over to GRP (Railway Police) Vapi for further legal action by the RPF. The police have registered a case against the two men under Section 303(2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and intensified the investigation. Head Constable Sandeep Bagul, Constable Sanju Rajput, Nishigandha, Rajesh Kumar, Anit Meena and Bhagirath were among those who joined the successful operation.
