Woman MP's gold chain robbed in Delhi: Police say 26 cases of theft and loot against accused, out on bail

The Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested Congress MP R. The accused was arrested for robbing a 30-gram gold chain from Sudha's neck. The accused has been identified as 24-year-old Sohan Rawat. Police have seized the MP's chain and bike from him which he used to commit the crime. Police said he was arrested after keeping an eye on the movement of the accused on the basis of CCTV footage. Rawat already has 26 criminal cases registered against him, most of them of theft and loot. He was arrested in April in a car theft case. He came out on bail on June 27. On August 4, Tamil Nadu Congress MP R. Sudha was on a morning walk near Tamil Nadu Bhavan in Chanakyapuri area of Delhi. Meanwhile, a miscreant riding a bike snatched the chain from his neck and fled. Meanwhile, the Congress MP fell down. He was injured in the neck. Sudha is a Congress MP from Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu. He is in Delhi to attend the monsoon session of Parliament. The area in Chanakyapuri where his chain was looted is considered to be one of the safest places in Delhi. There are many embassies and official residences of the state governments here. The MP said that badmash's face was covered In his complaint to the police, the Congress MP said the incident took place between 6.15 am and 6.20 am on August 4. He was on a morning walk with DMK MP Rajati near Gate-3 and Gate-4 of the Polish Embassy in Chanakyapuri. According to the complaint, during this time a man riding a bike slowly came towards MP Sudha Ramakrishnan from the front. The accused was wearing a helmet and his face was completely covered. He approached the MP and fled by snatching the gold chain from his neck. MP Sudha said that during this time she suffered an injury to her neck and her clothes were also torn. We both shouted for help. We saw a patrolling vehicle of Delhi Police against which we lodged a complaint. After this incident, Congress Sudha wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah complaining about the incident. In a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, she said, "About 32 grams of my gold chain has been looted and I am deeply shocked by this criminal attack." If a woman cannot walk safely in this high security zone of Delhi, then where else can we feel safe?" the Congress MP asked. 'Please ensure that my gold chain is returned and I get justice.'
