'My father used to drive a rickshaw and earn a living'
Talking to Divya Bhaskar, teacher Ranjitbhai Parmar says, "Antroli village in Mangrol taluka on the coast of Junagadh district is my hometown. 1987 My father used to run my family by driving six rickshaws. It was very difficult to live life at that time. At that time I was wondering how to get my family out of this situation. But at that time there was no idea. At one time when my father was standing on the road, a convoy of IAS officers left and my father's rickshaw was kept on the side. Then my father asked one of them who is all this? Then a policeman said that these are IAS officers, my father came home and told me about this whole incident and made me feel excited by explaining the importance of education to me. And since then I had decided to make my father's dream come true. 'My parents are the biggest contributor'
Ranjitbhai Parmar further says that the biggest contribution in my career has been from my parents. Because at that time my father had filled me the form in Porbandar Navodaya Vidyalaya and I started studying in Navodaya Vidyalaya. When I used to come home on leave in Navodaya Vidyalaya, I used to see my mother going for labour. At that time I was wondering when will I relieve my family from this pain?. Gradually time passed, I concentrated on studies and continued to study. In Navodaya I passed with good results. I then went on to study at The Government Engineering College, Gandhinagar. He then went on to study at M.S. University, Vadodara. Wherever I used to pass with very good marks. He then passed the Gujarat Public Service Commission with GPSC 1 rank and passed as the topper in Gujarat. 'I could have got a job in many fields too...'
Ranjitbhai Parmar says, "Even at that time, my father used to take his six and shout for the passenger to sit in the rickshaw with the 'Chalu Madhupur Chalo Madhavpur'. At that time I felt that it was time to free my family from the pain of this labour work and after that I got a job as a lecturer in Government Polytechnic Porbandar and I took my family with me to stay in Porbandar. I could also get a job in many other fields, but I thought I would decide on a field where I could guide the education of thousands of others. That's why I decided on the field of education. The reason for which was that students who could not only be made engineers but also a good citizen and a good person. I have provided engineering education to more than 2500 students in the last 25 years. Those who are currently doing very good companies, government sector as well as job business. Ranjitbhai Parmar says, "There are many students who have achieved success in their lives, one of my students' fame is studying in difficult times and taking her mother and father, who is driving an auto-rickshaw, with her and is currently working in a company like Torrent. Digital bar-coded has been started in the library with software prepared by Professor Ranjit Parmar of Polytechnic College and his staff. In which the facility of book bank has been started. An initiative for free sanitary napkins has been launched for girl students 10 years ago for free sanitary napkins through donations from staff in all women toilets in polytechnic colleges. An initiative is taken to organise karate classes for the students studying here. The environment is very well maintained by the college staff with the aim of providing clean air and a good environment to the students coming to the college. GK, Aptitude, Reasoning classes have been started in this college. Mock interviews are also conducted to prepare students from average socio-economic background for selection in MNCs like Reliance, TATA, Torrent. Due to which L&T is currently. Ultratech. Many students are working in this prestigious MNC. This teacher is actively involved in making the college campus the cleanest, green and carbon neutral campus. The college has been generating more than 50,000 units of electricity per annum with a savings of over Rs.11 lakh so far by regularly maintaining the 35 kW solar power plant. For this President's Medal Award, I give it to my parents, all the students of the electrical department and all the staff associated with my educational institution. After studying in Junagadh Government Polytechnic College, the student becomes an engineer. But there is a great need to be a good man with an engineer. In our polytechnic college, I have tried to provide education in a good environment, good education and respect for human moral values. Ranjitbhai Parmar further says that sanitary napkins have been kept in the women's toilet at the Polytechnic College here. These sanitary napkins have been placed from the establishment donation 10 years ago so that the students coming here can use them hesitantly. A book bank has been started in the library here so that students from middle and poor classes do not need to take books. A 35 kg solar system has been installed here by the Government of Gujarat. And it is also maintained by the college itself. Out of which five thousand units are also produced from it every month. Out of which, so far 14 to 15 lakh units have been saved. I have only made efforts to do the work and all the methods that suit only one teacher. The average teacher has risen above what he should have done and has done things in such a way that the light shines in the lives of the students. He has explained how the student studying here can become a good person and how he can give respect to his family by doing excellent work in the society. At a time when more is taught in English in the engineering department, students coming from the village level in the Junagadh Government Polytech College here have made different animation videos in Gujarati language to better understand the study being taught along with English.
