As many as 270 former bureaucrats, judges and former army officers from across the country have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing apprehension of a conspiracy in the June 3 train accident in Odisha. "Even in the early 90s and early 2000s, accidents took place due to manipulation of anti-national forces on railway tracks.

The accident is suspected to have been caused by intentional vandalism.
Most of the IAS/IPS officers who have written to Prime Minister Modi have advocated proper deployment of forces to prevent such incidents. At the same time, it has also been said that everything will be clear in the CBI investigation. The letter states that the cause of the accident could be deliberate vandalism and terrorism.
