The round of controversies continues in Bangladesh cricket. The Bangladesh Cricket Board elections were held in October last year, in which there were allegations of irregularities. Following the allegations, the Bangladesh government had set up an inquiry committee. The investigation report conducted by the same committee has revealed that the BCB elections last year were rigged, voters were intimidated and there was bias. The five-member committee, headed by former Justice AKM Asaduzzaman, submitted its inquiry report to the Sports Ministry on Sunday
According to the revelations made in theinvestigation report, the e-voting process that took place in October was planned in advance. It was reported that the voters were gathered at one place on October 5, 2025, a day before the election. National Sports Council Director Mohammad Aminul Ahsan told a press conference on Tuesday that the election process was not fair, transparent and free. Voters were intimidated before the election.
TheCommittee reported that many senior officials of the BCB were not willing to cooperate in the investigation. Last week, former BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul said in an interview that he had sent his reply in writing to the inquiry committee instead of giving an interview.
NSC Director Mohammad Aminul Ahsan said that the government has found sufficient reasons to dissolve the Bangladesh Cricket Board headed by Aminul Bulbul. After Bulbul was removed from the post of president, an 11-member committee has been formed, which will be headed by former cricketer Tamim Iqbal. This committee will look after the functioning of BCB for the next 3 months. Iqbal is the interim chairman of the BCB, who had accused Bulbul of misusing power ahead of the elections last year.
