In Rajpura village of Detroj taluka of Ahmedabad district, a snack taken in prasad during a religious program has become heavy for the villagers. More than 60 people were affected by food poisoning after eating the sev-khamani served in the prasad. All the patients have been shifted to Kadi Hospital for treatment. What was the whole incident? According to the information received, a religious program was organized in Rajpura village late on the night of Thursday, April 8. A large number of villagers had gathered for the event which was held with faith and enthusiasm. Breakfast was served to the attendees during the event. However, within a few hours of having breakfast, people's health suddenly began to deteriorate. There was chaos at the event as people complained of vomiting, nausea and unbearable stomach pain. In no time, the number of sick patients had crossed 60. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the villagers immediately informed the '108' emergency service. As the number of patients was high, all the affected people were shifted to Bhagyodaya Hospital and other private hospitals in Kadi by 108 ambulances as well as private vehicles. Intensive care is being provided to the patients on a war footing by the medical teams. The health system of Detroj taluka has come into action mode as soon as the mass food poisoning was reported. Detroj Taluka Health Officer Sharad Paliwal said that cases of diarrhoea and vomiting were reported in Rajpura village after eating sev-khamani at a religious event. The health department has formed separate teams and started the survey work in the village. Officials have also been instructed to take responsible food items and samples of patients and send them for testing. It is not yet clear what caused the poisoning in the sev-khamani served in the chakra of the investigation by the system. However, the health department and the food and drugs department have taken a proposal to take samples of the snacks and send them to the laboratory. The administration has also been careful to prevent further spread of the epidemic in the village. The tragedy that took place on a religious occasion has caused a stir in the entire Detroj diocese. As soon as the incident was reported, a team of the Detroj Health Department swung into action. A team of health officials and the Food and Drugs Department reached Rajpura village and started investigation.
