Madhur Bhandarkar calls 'Dhurandhar 2' like an atom bomb, expresses displeasure over Bollywood's silence on praise of the film, questions lack of unity
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has praised the film 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'. In a conversation with Faridun Shahryar, Madhur Bhandarkar termed the film as a historic success but also expressed his displeasure over Bollywood's 'silence' on the film. "This film will prove to be a change in the old pattern of the industry," he said. Madhur Bhandarkar also backed Ram Gopal Varma's statement that the film was like an 'atom bomb' exploding under the industry. Bhandarkar said, "I completely agree with Ramuji. We were both the first people to tweet right after watching the film." "I saw it in the paid preview and called Aditya Dhar and told him how great the film is. To be honest, I liked 'Dhurandhar 2' more than 'Dhurandhar 1'. "Stars from the South spoke up, but why is Bollywood silent?" asked Bhandarkar. "I saw the tweets of big stars from the South like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and Rajinikanth sir. They are openly praising the film. But I am surprised that Aditya Dhar did not get the appreciation and support he deserved from the film industry in Mumbai." "Like it or not, it is important to acknowledge and appreciate such a big success." Talking about the issue of unity in the film industry, Madhur said, "I have always said that there is no unity in Bollywood. The makers and actors should have come together openly. When a film performs so well, it benefits not just one person but every department like spot boy, technician and music director." "Aditya Dhar has breathed new life into the industry, which has been going through a rough patch for the last two years," he said. 'Doesn't match Aditya Dhar's vision' Madhur Bhandarkar called it a 'director's film'. "No matter how much money you have, you can't bring a mind like Aditya Dhar. Today, people don't watch even a one-minute video, but people sat in theatres till 2:45 a.m. to watch the film." "The screenplay and detailing of the film is terrific. Especially in the climax, the emotional connection with Ranveer Singh's character is goosebumps. I've seen people cry in theatres."
