Vadodara: A bridge over the Mahi river connecting Vadodara and Gambhira collapsed and people fell into the river along with vehicles. The survivor of the accident and injured undergoing treatment at Sayaji Hospital succumbed to the injuries this evening, taking the total death toll to 22.
The bodies of 13 people, including two minor children, were found in an operation carried out by the administration on the day of the collapse of the third and fourth pillars of The Gambhira Bridge in Mujpur in Padra taluka of Vadodara district and Anklav taluka of Anand district. The bodies of five more people were later recovered. Five people injured in the accident were admitted to Sayaji Hospital. Sonalben Padhiyar, a woman from Dariapur, who lost her entire family, was discharged.
