
Rajya Sabha rejects impeachment motion against CEC Gyanesh Kumar: The Rajya Sabha Chairman has rejected the impeachment motion brought by the Opposition against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The resolution was tabled on March 12 and was signed by 193 MPs.
Chief Election Commissioner's tenure now secured
The Chairman refused to accept the proposal in exercise of the powers conferred under the Judges (Inquiry) Act, 1968 after careful consideration of the matter and impartial assessment of all aspects. With this decision, the tenure of the Chief Election Commissioner has now been secured and no legal proceedings will proceed against him.
