CCTV cameras have been installed on various highways in Vadodara city by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation under the Vadodara Eye project at a cost of ₹ 100 crore.The main purpose of installing these CCTV cameras was the safety and security of the people, but cameras being installed to generate huge income. Based on the cameras, the city police penalise traffic rule violators and it is estimated that the city police have earned lakhs and crores of rupees from it. The Vadodara Corporation, on the other hand, is catching select people who litter and the income is only getting nominated.
The corporation has pumped in rs 100 crore behind this project and the police is getting revenue of lakhs and crores of rupees. However, the cost of maintenance of these CCTV cameras has now come to the Vadodara Corporation. That is, the Gujarat Police should earn crores of rupees and the Vadodara Municipal Corporation should spend Rs 4 crore related to the maintenance of CCTV cameras, the question is why? The citizens of Vadodara are robbed by the Gujarat Police and Vadodara Municipal Corporation, the police take money for violation of traffic rules, while the Vadodara Municipal Corporation charges tax for installing cameras and mante charges, how reasonable is it also ₹ 104 crore?
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is required to disclose the cost of each camera, the number of cameras purchased, any warranty or guarantee provided by the vendor and disclose it at a cost of Rs 100 crore to bring transparency in governance. Do you really see CCTV cameras worth Rs 100 crore in Vadodara (a city with a population of 26 lakh)? Rs 4 crore maintenance cost I think the VMC can buy new cameras across Vadodara at a cost of Rs 4 crore. Isn't this corruption?
