Lalabhai Kantibhai Parmar, a resident of Amizra Society in Borsad, had called up his friend Ajaybhai Punjabhai Chauhan of Dabhasi village on June 30, 2025. He talked about taking a loan by mortgaging the gold chain as he needed money. Ajaybhai, as a friend, had expressed his readiness to get a gold loan on the gold chain through his account in The Tamil Nadu Bank of Borsad branch. The next day, Lalabhai and his friends Bhagwansinh alias Rajubhai Gohel, Girishbhai Solanki (both residents of Kanbha) and Gambhirsinh alias Pintu Jadeja and his son Jairaj Jadeja (both residents of Dali) reached the Tamil Nadu Bank in Borsad. Ajaybhai also went there. They had given the gold chain to the bank. The bank sanctioned a loan of Rs 2,85,000 after checking the chain. Lalabhai and his accomplices then took a loan through Ajaybhai by mortgaging three other gold chains in the bank. On July 17, 2025, Lalabhai and his associates went to the gold chain bank for another time through Ajaybhai. When the bank employee checked the chain through Sony, the chain was found to be duplicate. Lalabhai and his accomplices had fled from there. Sensing that something was wrong, Ajaybhai asked him to check the gold chain he had given in exchange for the loan he had taken four times earlier in the bank. The investigation also found that all the four chains were not of gold. Thus, Lalabhai and his associates got a total gold loan of Rs 8,78,500 from The Tamil Nadu Bank in Borsad by giving fake gold chains four times. Ajaybhai lodged a complaint at Borsad Town police station. Police registered a case against the five and launched an investigation. On the basis of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police arrested three accused Girishbhai Ramanbhai Solanki, Bhagwansinh alias Rajubhai Gohel and Lalabhai Kantibhai Parmar within hours of counting. The police investigation revealed that the accused had affixed a hallmark of Rs 916 on the fake gold chains that had been given double carpets, got a loan in the bank and cheated them.
