The negligence and negligence of the administration has once again come to the fore in the Kadiawad area of Junagadh. A woman has been left bleeding after a slab of buildings that had been standing in a dilapidated condition for years suddenly collapsed. Two years ago, when four people were killed in a building collapse in the same area, the administration had sounded big bangs, but even today the situation has not improved. The anger of the locals has grown to such an extent that they are now saying – "Kinnars have to contest elections in Kadiawar", because the common leaders and the organisation do not understand their pain. When Divya Bhaskar's team arrived to check the reality at Ground Zero in the Kadiawad area, which is the heart of Junagadh city, the most shocking scenes came to light. Are landlords interested in rent and the administration waiting for casualties?
More than 50 buildings in the Kadiawad vegetable market are still standing in a dilapidated condition. Thousands of people pass through the narrow and narrow streets on which the crust and iron bars of these buildings hang like swords. Surprisingly, more than 12 students are still living in such dangerous buildings as tenants. Landlords are only interested in rent and the administration seems to be waiting for a major casualty. 'Now we have to field transgender people, maybe they will understand our pain'
Chandreshbhai Popat, a resident of Kadiawal, who has been living on Beldar Street for the past 63 years, says angrily that the incumbent corporators in Kadiawad are seen only during elections. Even after eight months, no drainage, water or road work is being done. He even went so far as to say that now we have no political leaders here but "transgender people to contest elections" because perhaps they will understand our pain. The house in which Chandreshbhai Popat lives is in a dilapidated condition and the tenants do not vacate the building even though he himself is ready to demolish it. He fears that if the municipal commissioner does not come and give strict orders, one day he himself will die buried under the debris of this building. 'A year ago, the beads broke due to a bad road'
The plight of Vasantben Teraiya, who lives on a street in the Kadiawad area, is also shaking. He says that four houses in the area are extremely dangerous. Vasantben herself had met with an accident on the same streets a year ago due to bad roads and her beads were broken, but no corporator had even noticed her. When someone dies, these leaders come to the crematorium to take photos, but they don't have time for the convenience of living people. The woman who was injured yesterday has caused a lot of anger among the people and they say those responsible are taking the blame of the people. 'No notice has been issued to inspectors for three years despite representations'
Milanbhai Vyas, a resident of Vasta Ladha Street, is directly challenging the Junagadh Municipal Corporation administration. He says two houses in his street are in such a bad condition that their roofs could fall on anyone's head at any time. Not a single notice has been issued so far despite representations to the inspectors for three years. The corporation challenges the commissioner to come and inspect the buildings in person and if the engineers prove that these houses are safe, they are ready to face any punishment. The streets here have been dug up for the last six months, causing many accidents, but the corporators do not come out of the AC chambers. 'Leave the paperwork and get down to the ground level and remove the death knees'
Elderly Manoramaben Joshi is also living under the shadow of fear. "We have to live in the face of death every day," he says. The roads are bad, but we have to look up to see when a stone or a part of a slab falls on our head. The Kadiawad area does not seem to be on the map of Junagadh because there is no one to listen to the sufferings of the people here. The common citizen of Kadiawad is being crushed between the negligence of the administration and the greed of the house owners. It won't take long for the incident to be repeated two years ago
If action is not taken against these more than 50 dilapidated buildings in time, it will not be long before the heart-wrenching incident that happened two years ago is repeated. The officials of Junagadh Municipal Corporation should leave the work on paper and remove these death marks at the ground level so that no other innocent citizen has to lose his life. The municipal machinery may wake up after a major loss of life
While these are just dilapidated buildings that Bhaskar has noticed, there are still more than 50 dilapidated buildings and houses standing like death traps in the masonry. But from the way the incident is taking place, it seems that perhaps the Junagadh Municipal Corporation administration and the corporators of the area may suffer a major loss of life and then wake up and work effectively, the anguish and anguish of the people have gone beyond the extent that even the locals are saying that now the eunuchs in the area have to contest elections.
