The Statue of Unity (SOU), the tallest statue of the world enjoys a splendidly scenic location facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam. The world class monument of India’s leader of integrity and honesty is well designed to be a catalyst for development of the tribal population. The SOU is a top-quality tourist facilities, excellent transport infrastructure with good connectivity becoming one of the country’s top tourist attractions. The digital India success is visible in the SOU, starting from booking ticket to entry in each tourist attractions updated with QR code scanning.
The instruction of COVID-19 is well written like maintains at least 6 feet of distance, sanitizer placed around every 100 meters, etc. The SOU staff instructed visitors to maintain distance but no one is following it. The security guards at entry line or queue updated to all visitors’ that maintain 6 feet distance, but difficult to see 1 feet distance between two visitors. The visitors are visiting the world-class monument at his/her risk as visitors are not wearing face mask properly during a visit and social distancing rules violation is very common. The basic hygiene is missing in all tourist attractions, like Jungle Safari, Pets Zone, Valley of Flowers, etc. The visitors entered in Jangle Safari required to walk while E-cart vehicle available and visitors required to stand in a queue for 5-10 minutes. The safari route has been designed such that the visitors frustrate and unfortunate event is no complain book. The safari route required to design such that the visitors always remembers the experiences of viewing animal activities, spot reptiles and watch birds.
The horrible place of the SOU was the cafeteria, the very over crowded place, no discipline and no one concern about covid-19. The SOU staff required to maintain discipline in the cafeteria also as allowing more visitors will spread Covid-19. The ideal way is to allow 400-500 visitors in an hour and all tourist attractions required time slots to visit. The humble request to members of management of the SOU, please visit Burj Khalifa or Statue of Liberty and understand the management of visitors in Covid-19. India and Indian reputation at stake due to mismanagement. The foreign visitors will defiantly regret the visit. Is it difficult to follow COVID-19 guidelines?
