3 flights diverted as cracker to scare birds sets grass ablaze at Surat airport

A fire broke out at Surat International Airport on Thursday. The fire started due to firecrackers used to scare away birds. Several flights were diverted to Ahmedabad and Vadodara. A helicopter was rerouted to Hazira. Departing flights faced delays. Strong winds hampered firefighting efforts. The fire took 90 minutes to extinguish.
