A new study reveals most nations overuse stronger 'watch' antibiotics, fueling resistance issues. Researchers developed a framework to assess antibiotic use appropriateness for countries. Globally, around 43 billion antibiotic courses were needed in 2019. Nearly three-quarters of countries used more antibiotics overall than expected. India's actual antibiotic use exceeded its estimated optimal levels significantly.
