Karnataka has decided to release 3 tmcft of Krishna water to Telangana to assist with irrigation needs. This decision follows discussions between Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and Telangana officials regarding water shortages. Telangana is currently facing severe water scarcity affecting about 5.5 lakh acres of crops. Meanwhile, Karnataka is experiencing a significant rainfall deficit, leading to 177 drought-hit taluks.
