Vadodara: India exports garments worth $12 billion every year to the world and the US accounts for about 28 per cent of its exports.
R K Vij, who was attending the inaugural session of the two-day National Textile Conference organised by the Department of Clothing and Textiles at the Faculty of Home Science at MS University, said that cotton garments are mostly exported from India in the US and due to the suspension of these exports due to 50 per cent tariffs, hundreds of cotton yarn and garment manufacturing companies have shut down or their production has been reduced.
