At least 51 people have died and nearly 27 girls are missing after flash floods in the Gwadaloop River following heavy rains in the US state of Texas on Friday. A girls' summer camp near the Gwadalupe river was hit by floods. Officials said that in just 45 minutes, the water level of the river had risen by as much as 26 feet (8 meters), due to which houses and vehicles were washed away. According to the Meteorological Department, the risk of flooding still persists. Helicopters, boats and drones are being used to trace the missing girls. Many more people are feared missing. Texas Governor Dan Patrick said the rescue team was working. Nine rescue teams, 14 helicopters and 12 drones are being used. So far, more than 850 people have been rescued. Camp Mystic, a girls' summer camp near Curville, was completely submerged in water. 750 girls in the camp were rescued. Pm Modi expressed grief over the death of children due to the devastating floods in Texas by posting on Twitter. He conveyed his condolences to the affected families. On the other hand, according to officials, more than 1,000 rescue workers are searching for the missing people amid heavy rain around San Antonio, Texas. The sudden flood warning is still in place. As many as 2,600 houses were electrified due to the floods and local drains and waterways overflowed in the river due to the rains, leading to waterlogging on roads. The trailers and vehicles were washed away. San Antonio emergency teams have launched search and rescue operations using helicopters and drones. People in the area told local media that the flood water suddenly came in and they had to climb a tree to save themselves.
