Under the central government's 'Hub-and-Spoke' model, Air India has started 'Easy Connect' flights from Ahmedabad airport. Ahmedabad has become the third city in the country to get this facility after Amritsar and Varanasi. Under this service, passengers travelling abroad from Ahmedabad via Delhi will have the facility to complete the through-check-in and immigration process at Ahmedabad airport itself, which will save them from the hassle of baggage check-in or terminal change again at Delhi. Schedule of 'Easy Connect' flights
Flight AI1117 will depart from Ahmedabad at 8:25 am and reach Delhi at 10:15 am. This flight will have connectivity from Delhi to cities including Shanghai, Kathmandu, Dubai, Amsterdam, Manila, Paris, Colombo, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Kuala Lumpur, Riyadh, Rome and Zurich. Flight AI1121 will depart from Ahmedabad at 8:15 pm and reach Delhi at 10:00 pm. This flight will get connectivity from Delhi to cities including Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Dubai, Toronto, Sydney and London. These services have been operational from September 1 and 2. Both these flights will have connectivity to 26 international destinations including America, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia and Gulf countries within 4 hours from Delhi Airport. Trade, tourism and global movement to get a big boost in Gujarat
Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu said that this initiative will give a big boost to trade, tourism and global mobility in Gujarat. According to Air India, about 25 million passengers travel long distances in India every year, of which 20 million passengers are connecting passengers. At present, about 85% of such passengers transit through foreign hubs. Registering on the DigiYatra app will be mandatory for Indian citizens availing the 'Easy Connect' facility.
