'Gen Z' Indo-Western, pastel shades Chaniacholi Diwana: Designer customization trend leads to bookings in boutiques, shopping in markets including Ahmedabad-Surat

This year, Navratri is witnessing a huge craze for buying and customizing chaniyacholi in the well-known markets of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad and Surat. Not only the colour and design of chaniyacholi, but also the demand for peacock theme, moon embroidery, barlu, handwork and dupattas with different shades and more flares. Customers are customizing the outfits by placing orders according to their choice. Due to this enthusiasm, the bookings for October in fashion designers and boutiques are already full. A large number of orders are being received from the country as well as abroad, with a 30 per cent increase in bookings compared to last year. Craze for Indo-Western, pastel shades and budget-friendly fashion in 'Gen Z' Today's 'Gen Z' crowd is witnessing a new trend of wearing clothes with modern Indo-Western and pastel shades rather than the traditional heavy chaniyacholi. Young men and women are preferring spaghetti, halter necks, sleeveless with tassels and lightweight (lightweight) stylish clothes instead of overly heavy work. Also, since the original Kutchi Abhala work chaniyacholi is extremely expensive, it goes out of budget for the youth who want to wear different dresses for the ten days of Navratri. Hence, Indo-Western designs as an economically affordable, comfortable and stylish option have become the centre of attraction among the youth today. Entry of pastel shades against classic dark colours for a trendy style in Surat Traditional colors like red, yellow or dark green are usually worn more during Navratri, but this year the trend of pastel colors is being seen 100% in its place. Players and groups playing in big events are opting for pastel shades for a special dress code. Surat-based fashion designer Greeshma Master told Bhaskar that the current Gen-Z crowd is definitively Indo-Western. This is because it has options of spaghetti, halter neck, sleeveless with tassels and very lightweight chaniyacholi. When thousands of players play on the field, most people wear traditional dark colors. In such a situation, the youth groups have chosen pastel colours to stand out and create their own identity, as these colours are immediately highlighted in the large halogen lights of the field. These light shades give the players a sophisticated and trendy style. Cotton fabric and NRI's traditional choice for ease of play Greeshma Master said that when you play Garba for 5 to 8 hours continuously, the cotton fabric absorbs the sweat and at the same time provides the players with a beautiful grace, a big flair (home) and a unique personality. The designer, who has customers in 11 countries, made it clear that when it comes to NRI customers living abroad, their inclination is completely towards our culture. Trend of buying new collections and mix-and-match concepts against rental culture "Today, if you go to rent a day's chaniyacholi for a day, it costs Rs 2500 to Rs 3000, whereas in the current market, there is a great variety available to buy and wear a new chickpea for Rs 3,000 to 4,000 per day. The mix-and-match concept is the best option for young people who don't want to spend new every year. A new blouse with old chaniya, a contrast or matching dupatta and a new style draping with oxidized jewellery can also give a brand new and fresh look to the old outfit." Peacock themed, moon embroidery, barlu and handwork dupatta in trend Talking to Bhaskar, Kinjal Thakkar, owner of Febura Boutique in Ahmedabad, said, "This time in street affairs, white, pink in butterfly, red in ratladi, these colors are the most in trade. But now, dupattas with more shades, dupattas with peacock themes and dupattas with embroidery, dupattas with moon embroidery, are also in a lot of trading. There is a huge demand for flared chaniyas, angi blouses. "Nowadays, there is a huge demand for flare chickpeas. People come to customize angi blouses and suitable colors for their favourite colors or garba nights. Right now, we have all the booking packs here. We have a booking pack for the whole month of October. We also get orders from foreign and countries like the US. So we have made chaniyacholi and sent it to them." "We don't give chaniyacholi on rent, but this time people are messaging us on Instagram. They are messaging on Whatsapp, so this time I am planning to rent chaniyacholi only for Navratri. At present, we have 10 people working. People are working in which there is expertise. There are different artisans of handwork and artisans of machine work. There are also separate artisans for stitching etc." Craze for Aari Tikki dupatta in Barla, Bandhani with Lumpi Toi Manjusha Kothari, the owner of Ghazal Creations, while talking to Bhaskar, said, "We have added a barla with Lumpi Toini. Barlu means Mukesh work is done with wire and is totally handworked. Sometimes we also make it a sticky barlu for low range. "If we have to make a 12 meter ghagra, it takes 12 hours to make it. If 10 people of my team come together and make a chaniyacholi, then a beautiful chaniyacholi is made in one and a half to two days. The lowest price ghagra is made from 1500 to 2000. Blouses are also made from 1000 rupees to 4500 to 5000 rupees. Dupattas also start from 550 to 4500. Compared to every year, I have seen an increase of 25 to 30 per cent in bookings this year. Everyone is saying that there is a global recession, but there is never a recession in Navratri in Gujarat," he said. 'We have made more than 200 chaniyacholi and delivered them' Manjusha Kothari said, "We start working in Navratri from the month of May and then when Shradh comes, we have to put up a housefull board. We have done the work of Navratri in the months of May, June, July and August. So far, we have made and delivered more than 200 chaniyacholis. Now Lalitya Munsha is going to come from Bombay to Ahmedabad for a special stage show. So she said that she has to wear a Ghazna chaniyacholi, so we keep up at night and work for her.
