Ahmedabad Typhoid News: After a sudden surge in typhoid cases in the capital Gandhinagar, now the system of the mega-city of Ahmedabad has also come into alert mode. The health department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken a big decision keeping in mind the health of the citizens. Based on the drainage complaints in the South and East Zones, 26 areas of the city have been placed in 'High Risk Zones'
If you live in these areas, you now need to be extra careful with water and food.
Which 26 areas of Ahmedabad are in the 'high-risk zone'?
The health department has placed areas where complaints of mixing of drainage and drinking water are high, in the red zone. These mainly include the following areas:

Central Zone: Jamalpur, Khadia, Beherampura, Danilimda, Dariapur.

East Zone: Gomtipur, Rakhiyal, Saraspur.
-
South Zone: Lambha, Maninagar, Khokhra.
intensive checking is being carried out in these areas as there is a high risk of spread of waterborne disease.
Fry on panipuri: 400 kg of potatoes and destruction of non-edible water
Diseases like typhoid and cholera are spread through contaminated water and food. Therefore, the AMC has conducted raids on Panipuri streets and units across the city.

Action taken on Tuesday: The health department destroyed 300 litres of non-edible water and 400 kg stale potatoes during checking.

Watch on ice factories: Now water jugs and ice factories will also be checked to prevent the sale of contaminated water.

Permanent inspection of all food units has been ordered.
Pandemic statistics and action plans in December
Even though the system is claiming that the situation is under control, the statistics say otherwise. Cases reported in the city during the month of December:

typhoid: 180 cases
-
diarrhea-vomiting: 239 cases
-
jaundice: 149 cases

AMC's health department appeals to citizens to consult a doctor instead of self-medication if you or anyone in the family experiences any of the following symptoms:
