A grandfather was brutally murdered in a dispute over a grandson in Pipliya village of Vagra taluka. The police nabbed the three accused within a few hours and put them behind bars. A grandfather was killed in Pipliya village after he scolded his grandson for abusing him. The violent clash took place at around 8 pm on February 24 near Mohammedbhai's shop in Old Falia of Pipliya village. Jagdish, grandson of complainant Soma Rathod, was passing by. At that time, three men from the village were abusing him over a common matter and quarrelling. Seeing his grandson in trouble, 60-year-old Somabhai intervened. "Why are you abusing my grandson?" he asked, explaining to the attackers to calm down. The accused were agitated as soon as they were reprimanded. Nagin Vasava, Vinod Vasava and Bipin Vasava fatally attacked the elderly man with a pipe and wooden plank. The accused fled after inflicting serious injuries on the elderly man and threatening to kill him. Initially, however, there were attempts at reconciliation at the community level in the village. But the next day he complained of unbearable pain and was rushed to Bharuch Civil Hospital. Doctors referred him to SSG Hospital in Vadodara as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment in Vadodara. The Vagra police registered a case of murder against the three accused and nabbed them.
