Ranbir Kapoor and I slashed fees to save producers from loss: Anurag on 'Jagga Jasoos', says 'everyone should get paid even if the film flops'
Director Anurag Basu recently revealed that he and Ranbir Kapoor had reduced the fees for the 2017 film 'Jagga Jasoos'. The director said that his first rule while making a film is that even if the film does not work, everyone should get money. Talking to Gallata Plus (YouTube channel), Anurag Basu talked about his recently released film 'Metro in Dino', saying, 'I make sure that the producers do not suffer in my projects. It is always covered. None of my producers will complain about it. I know this is my budget and I have to play in it. Metro has been built in a very ordinary budget because I know that there is a bunch of actors in this one, not a big star. "My first rule while making a film is that even if the film doesn't work, everyone should make money," said Anurag. "Jagga didn't make money, but we weren't at a loss. Ranbir took less money. He cut down on his fee, I reduced my fee. All of us. Because we were passionate about our project, we didn't run after money. But we reduced our fees so that the producer does not suffer. Our vision was our project." Anurag Basu's 2017 film 'Jagga Jasoos', which took almost four years to make, flopped at the box office. Made at a cost of Rs 130 crore, 'Jagga Jasoos' starred Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. At that time, Ranbir's father, the late Rishi Kapoor, had publicly attacked Anurag for the failure of the film and blamed his mismanagement for the way the film received.
