Kejriwal says he has banned his Instagram account, demanded a reply from Meta. Says the company should not bow to government pressure

Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that his Instagram account has been banned in the country. He said that despite repeated requests to Meta about this, there has been no response. Kejriwal also shared a screenshot of his account status page. It shows the message 'Unavailable in Same Locations' (not available in some places). Kejriwal alleged that the government is pressuring Meta to ban the account of anyone who speaks against ethanol or paper leaks. Meta should not indulge in this kind of hooliganism and should not kneel down against Modiji. Kejriwal showed the status of the account Kejriwal wrote on X that on enquiring at Meta's India office, it was found that his Instagram account is banned and not available in India. Kejriwal said he received messages from many people that his account had also been banned. He has also appealed to those people to get in touch. Kejriwal termed the lack of clarity and no response from Meta as a bad service. There has been no immediate reaction from Meta on the matter. 'Unavailable in Same Locations' in Instagram's account status means that some of your content (posts, reels, stories or accounts) will not appear in some countries or regions, while others will appear normally in other locations. That doesn't mean your account is going to be suspended. Only the reach of that content may be limited to certain locations. All other options in the account status have a green tick. PM Modi had posted a video on July 23, in which he termed the paper leak as a big problem. He also talked of creating fast track courts for speedy trial of such cases. The video was removed from Facebook for a while. Meta later put it back on Facebook. The government then issued summons to Meta. According to official sources in the news agency PTI, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg apologized to the Indian government on Wednesday in this matter. The company also admitted that there were errors related to child sexual abuse content, deepfakes and content moderation on its platform.
