Read why India's mark will always be on the moon's land

India's third lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 is on a journey to the moon. It was successfully launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on Friday (July 15). At this time it is in earth's orbit and is slowly moving towards the moon. Chandrayaan-3's main goal is to make its soft landing on the lunar surface. It will then collect data from the lunar surface and open the curtains from its mysteries. Along with this, it will also leave traces of India's national emblem on the moon. 

Only the rover and lander will go with Chandrayaan 3

  Chandrayaan 3 will make a soft landing on the south pole of the moon on August 23. So far, only three countries - the US, Russia and China - have made soft lands. With this, India will also join the club of these countries. This time only the rover and lander are going with Chandrayaan 3. The orbiter sent with Chandrayaan 2 is still there and working. Chandrayaan-2 was sent in 2019, but it could not make a soft landing. Chandrayaan-2's lander lost contact two km before the lunar surface.

There will be signs of India's presence on Chandrayaan

After exiting the lander, the rover Pragyan will not only collect data but at the same time leave traces of India's presence on the lunar soil forever. The rear wheel of the rover is designed in such a way that when it moves forward, it will mark the national emblem of India taken from ashoka's lat at Sarnath on the lunar soil behind it. Through it, the rear wheel will print the mark of ISRO which will forever be a testament to India's presence on the moon. 

The rover can only go 500 meters away from the lander

The data that the rover collects will be sent to the lander, which will send the lander to isro's command center on the ground. ISRO scientists will be able to send orders to the rover only through the lander. The duration of the rover will be equal to one lunar day (14 days on Earth). During the test on the lunar surface, the rover will not be able to move more than 500 meters away from the Pragyan lander.
