Dhanteras is the day of worship of Lord Dhanvantari. On the day of Trayodashi, Lord Dhanvantari appeared from the churning of the sea with a kalash of nectar. This tithi is also celebrated as the pragatya of Lord Dhanvantari. Let us know how to worship Lord Dhanvantari. And what is Dhanteras?

Dhanteras Auspicious Muhurat and  Puja Rituals

The festival of Dhanteras (Dhanteras 2022) is celebrated on the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. Lord Dhanvantari is worshipped on this day. It is believed that by doing so one leads a healthy life. This time the festival will start from the evening of October 22 and will continue till October 23. This is due to the decrease in dates. On this day, Lord Dhanvantari appeared from samudra manthan with nectar kalash.  Also celebrated as Pragatya. Let us know how to worship Lord Dhanvantari.

How to worship Lord Dhanvantari?
First of all, after taking a bath, wash and wear clean clothes. Install the idol or picture of Lord Dhanvantari in a clean place and sit facing east. Then invoke Lord Dhanvantari with this mantra.

After this, offer rice at the place of worship with the intention of giving asana. Release water for achaman. Offer gandh, abir, gulal flowers, roli, etc. to the idol of Lord Dhanvantari. Offer kheer in a silver vessel. (If there is no silver vessel, you can offer bhog in any other vessel.)
After this, again leave water for Achaman. Offer soupari, cloves, supari for purification of the mouth. Offer clothes (mauli) to Lord Dhanvantari. Offer revered medicines like Shankhpushpi, Tulsi, Brahmi etc. to Lord Dhanvantari. Chant this mantra for the desire to destroy diseases- 

Om Ram Rudra Rog Nashaya Dhanvantarye Phat.

After this, offer Shriphal and Dakshina to Lord Dhanvantari. At the end of the puja, perform aarti by lighting camphor and lamps.
