The dengue epidemic is proving to be serious for the paramilitary forces personnel who came to participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade at Gandhinagar on September 31. The outbreak of dengue has taken a serious form among the BSF (Border Security Force), CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) and ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) personnel who have been accommodated in the new government houses in Sector-28 and 29 of Gandhinagar. So far, more than 100 jawans have been affected by this vector disease. The situation is so serious that 43 of them have to be admitted to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital for treatment. CRPF jawan Amal Barman dies while undergoing treatment
A 29-year-old CRPF jawan who was undergoing treatment for dengue at the Civil Hospital, Amal Barman, died suddenly under suspicious circumstances, causing a huge uproar among the security forces and the local administration. According to the information received, the health of jawan Amal Barman suddenly became critical during treatment last night. He was immediately shifted from the general ward to the emergency department, but before that, he died tragically. The post-mortem of the body was conducted in the morning and viscera samples have been sent for examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Prima facie, it is suspected that the death was caused by severe impact of dengue or cardiac arrest, though the real cause will be clear only after the forensic report comes. Patient dies in short treatment after chest pain: Civil RMO
The incident was reported by Dr. Vipulaben, RMO of the Civil Hospital. Giving detailed information, Vipulaben said that a patient named Amal came to the OPD at 9.30 pm on the 6th for treatment. On the basis of his medical reports, he was admitted to the hospital at night. Then at 6 am the next morning, the patient suddenly started having chest pain and severe nervousness. He was immediately ECG and cardiac markers done by the doctors, but at the end of a short treatment, the patient died at 6.50 am. The post-mortem of the body has been done and the official cause of death is still pending. A high-level meeting and immediate action ordered by the Health Minister
In view of the serious situation of the epidemic spreading among the jawans, a high-level review meeting was immediately held by Health Minister Praful Panseria. The minister claimed that orders have been given to carry out fogging, spraying of medicines and intensive surveillance on a war footing in the affected areas. As a precautionary measure, 4 health workers have been specially assigned to each block of the Jawans' residence. Apart from this, strict instructions have been given to ensure that there is no waterlogging anywhere in the residential premises. The leakage of the system has been exposed amidst the government's claims
On the one hand, while the epidemic is worsening, on the other hand, the state health department has claimed that the cases of malaria and dengue have come down this year as compared to last year and more than 1.39 crore blood samples have been tested. But the horrific situation of dengue among the personnel deployed for national security in the centre of the capital Gandhinagar has exposed the preparedness of the system. The incident has raised serious questions about the functioning and claims of the local administration.
