The Human Rights Federation Inc. has submitted an official representation to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking a wage increase and timely payment of salaries for Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) personnel serving in Gujarat. In its representation, the Federation has urged the authorities to ensure an appropriate salary revision and regular, timely disbursement of wages, keeping in view the financial interests and welfare of GRD personnel.
Mahendra Ayalani, President of the Federation, stated that the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) recently announced a 3% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees. He submitted that if other government employees are being granted benefits to offset the impact of inflation, GRD personnel should likewise receive similar financial relief.
He further stated that GRD personnel perform several important duties, including assisting in the maintenance of law and order across the state. However, according to the Federation, they have been facing long-standing issues such as inadequate salary increments and delays in salary payments.
Key Demands of the Federation
-
GRD personnel should be granted a fair and dignified salary increase in line with prevailing inflation and rising living costs.
-
A permanent and effective mechanism should be implemented to ensure that GRD personnel receive their salaries on a fixed date every month without delay.
The Human Rights Federation has stated that if appropriate action is not taken regarding the financial interests and long-pending demands of GRD personnel, the matter will be pursued further through representations at a broader level.
According to the Federation, providing GRD personnel with adequate remuneration, timely salary payments, and financial security is essential for maintaining their efficiency, morale, and commitment to public service. The organization has appealed to the Union Home Minister to intervene in the matter and ensure that the concerned authorities take appropriate and effective action.
