Important initiative to solve pressing issues of government employees: departmental-level meetings will be held with employee groups every three months

Gandhinagar, September 12, 2026: A joint meeting of office-bearers of various employee associations across Gujarat was held with Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi under the leadership of the Gujarat State Employees Federation (Gujarat Rajya Karmachari Mahamandal). The meeting focused on various pending issues affecting government employees across the state and discussed measures for their time-bound resolution.

The meeting was attended by Gujarat State Employees Federation President Shri Satishbhai, Employees Joint Front President Shri Digvijaysinh Jadeja, General Secretary Shri Bharatbhai Chaudhary, Joint Front General Secretary Shri Kiritsinh Chavda, Primary Teachers’ Association General Secretary Shri Jaimin Patel, along with presidents, general secretaries and office-bearers of various employee organisations.

Proposal for Quarterly Meetings at the Departmental Level: During the meeting, the employee organisations jointly put forward an important proposal seeking that department-level meetings be held every three months between the concerned departmental minister, secretary and the president of the respective employee association to discuss and resolve employees’ pending issues. According to the employee organisations, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi welcomed the proposal and gave a positive assurance for its immediate implementation. The employee organisations believe that if this mechanism is implemented regularly, it could accelerate the process of presenting and resolving employees’ grievances at the departmental level instead of allowing them to remain pending for prolonged periods.

Separate Meeting to Be Held Under the Chief Minister’s Chairmanship: The meeting also discussed the possibility of holding a separate meeting under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister in the near future to address collective and statewide issues concerning government employees. The employee organisations were reportedly advised to compile issues affecting employees collectively, prepare a written representation outlining these matters, and submit it to the government for consideration.

Special Programme Proposed on Prime Minister’s Birthday: The meeting also discussed organising a special social-service programme by state government employees on September 17, on the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. According to the employee organisations, the Chief Minister called upon employees to organise a distinct service-oriented programme this year, similar to the blood donation camp organised by employees last year.

Preparation for MOU with Banks for Salary Account Benefits: Towards the conclusion of the meeting, discussions were also held regarding various financial and other benefits associated with salary accounts for government employees. In this regard, it was informed that the Gujarat State Employees Federation and the Employees Joint Front would hold a separate meeting in the coming days to explore the possibility of entering into a statewide Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a bank for providing additional benefits to employees.

Dialogue Emphasised for Resolution of Employees’ Issues: The presidents and general secretaries of the various employee organisations present at the meeting expressed their gratitude following the successful conclusion of the discussions. The initiative to hold departmental-level meetings with employee organisations every three months, the proposed separate meeting under the Chief Minister’s chairmanship to address statewide issues, and efforts towards an MOU for additional salary-account benefits are being viewed as significant steps in the interest of government employees.

The employees will now be watching closely for time-bound action by the government and implementation of decisions on the issues raised by their organisations.
