Human Rights Federation Raises Serious Concerns Over Claims of Violent Online Searches Against Men: Seeks Official Clarification Regarding Claim of More Than 165 Million Google Searches

Reports circulating on social media and various internet platforms claim that women have conducted more than 165 million Google searches using phrases such as “How to kill/harm a man without proof.” However, there is currently no independent or official confirmation of this figure. Consequently, questions have also been raised regarding the credibility of the claim.

Taking note of the claim and the violent online trend allegedly reflected in it, Human Rights Federation Inc., an organisation working in the field of human rights and social security, has stated that it has taken serious note of the matter. According to a press release issued by the organisation, its International President, Mahendra Ayalani, has submitted a formal representation through official email and portal channels to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and Google LLC.

Demands Including a Real-Time Alert System: In its representation, the organisation has stated that if an individual uses a digital platform to search for information with the intention of committing violence, murder, or any unlawful act against a person of any gender, appropriate legal and cybersecurity mechanisms should be in place to address such activities.

According to the press release, the organisation has primarily put forward the following demands:

1. Real-Time Cyber Police Alert System: When serious search patterns associated with violence, murder, or unlawful conspiracies are identified, an appropriate cybersecurity mechanism should be developed to alert the relevant authorities, subject to applicable laws and privacy regulations.

2. Warnings Regarding Violent and Criminal Content: Appropriate safety warnings and platform policies should be implemented against online content that promotes violence or could potentially be used to facilitate serious criminal activities.

3. Fact-Check Regarding the Claim of 165 Million Searches: The organisation has demanded that if the claim circulating on social media that more than 165 million searches were conducted is falsely attributed to Google or is misleading, Google should issue an official clarification so that the public is not misled.

4. Equal Protection Under Human Rights: Within the framework of human rights, the physical, mental and social security of men should also be given equal importance, and violence against any gender should be treated with equal seriousness.

“Every Citizen Has the Right to Live Without Fear”

Mahendra Ayalani, International President of Human Rights Federation Inc., stated:

“Every citizen has the right to live a safe and fear-free life. Digital platforms should not be used for criminal conspiracies against any gender. We have raised this issue strongly at the international level and will continue our representation and legal efforts until an appropriate resolution is reached.”

Following the organisation’s representation, attention will now be focused on the responses from OHCHR and Google regarding the claim, alleged violent online content, and digital safety measures.
