India has fiercely attacked US Vice President JD Vance for terming H-1B visa holders and foreign technical professionals as foreign bonded laborers. India has termed his statement as very insulting and wrong. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) retorted on JD Vance's remarks, saying that they ignore the fact that Indian professionals in the US are very educated and skilled. Along with this, he also contributes to the US economy and innovation ecosystem.
PERM program will be used to suspend Indian companies," he said.
At the same time, he has also commented on the decision of the US Department of Labor regarding the Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) program for certain companies. Randhir Jaiswal said, ' We are aware of the decision of the US Department of Labor regarding the Permanent Labor Certification Program, known as PERM, for some companies. It should be noted that PERM is different from the H-1B visa program."

He said, ' The suspension of PERM applications does not affect the validity of the H-1B visa or the status of H-1B visa holders and their dependents. However, this may have some impact on the permanent residency or green card process for eligible employees of companies. It should also be clear that talent mobility adds value for both economies, India and the US. While it creates opportunities for Indians, it also benefits American companies equally by giving them access to cutting-edge talent, innovation, research, productivity, competitiveness and job creation."
