According to the WHO, 84,390 deaths were analysed across the country. It revealed that 122 out of 707 districts in the country reported less than 40% deaths of women. In 37 out of 38 districts of Bihar, the mortality rate of women was less than 60%, the situation was similar in Jharkhand. In Kurung Kumey in Arunachal Pradesh, only 5% of deaths were reported among women. According to the National Family Health Survey (2019-21), only 70.8% of the total deaths in the country were registered. That is, 30% of the deaths were left out of the government records. In this too, 73% of the deaths were reported in men, while in the case of women, this figure was 64%. The main reasons for low registration... Only 54.4% Enrolment in Aspirational Districts While 112 Aspirational Districts, which were lagging in terms of development, recorded 54.4% mortality. In other districts, the figure was 73.7%. That is, there is a difference of 19.3 percentage points between the two. Experts say that to further strengthen the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system, families should be assisted in enrolment through panchayats, ASHA workers and anganwadi centres.
