Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has announced to quit politics. In an interview given on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert', he said that he will no longer run for any political post, including the post of Governor of California. "America's political system has collapsed and I'm not strong enough to defend democratic values," Harris said. Harris, a former Governor of California, said she has served the public throughout her career. "I thought a lot about becoming governor. I like my state of California, but now I feel that my ability to change the system has weakened. Referring to the experiences in his new book 107 Days, the TV host told Harris that it is worrisome for a capable person like you to say that the system has collapsed. Harris also said that she now wants to travel across the country and talk to people, but not to ask for votes, but to listen to them. His new book '107 Days' is going to be released on September 23. In which he has mentioned his experiences of 107 days of presidential election campaign. When asked what surprised her the most in those 107 days, Harris said, "Every night I used to pray that I have done everything to the best of my ability today. Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Trump won the presidential election election with 312 votes in the Electoral College, while Harris got 226 votes. Kamala, who became a presidential candidate in seven years, started her political career as a district attorney in 1990. He moved from district attorney to state attorney and then to senate (U.S. Rajya Sabha). Within a year of becoming a district attorney, Kamala faced controversies over her approach. These controversies increased Kamala's popularity. In 2004, a member of a criminal gang shot and killed a police officer, Isaac Espinoza. People demanded that the killer should be given the death penalty. However, as a public prosecutor, Kamala did not seek the death penalty. Not only policemen, but even California senators were opposing him on this issue. As a lawyer, Kamala worked to reduce the death sentence. He believes that the judicial system should focus more on prevention of crime than punishment. He also reduced the major punishments for minor offences. Kamla started a back on track program under which people who committed small crimes were given school education and job training so that they could quit crime and lead a normal life. Kamala also focused on punishing parents who did not send their children to school for education. This affected black parents the most. Because of this, Kamala was criticized a lot. However, those campaigning for Kamala say this led to a 33% drop in school dropout cases.
