Vadodara News: State Monitoring Cell raids, 500 boxes of foreign liquor seized from Kapurai, 5 booked

A large quantity of foreign liquor has been seized from Vadodara city amid strict enforcement of liquor prohibition in Gujarat. A team of the State Monitoring Cell conducted a major raid in Vadodara's Kapurai area and seized a truck loaded with foreign liquor worth lakhs of rupees. The operation caught the local police sleeping. After this raid of the SMC, there has been a flutter among the bootleggers.

Liquor worth Rs 78 lakh and contraband worth Rs 93.06 lakh seized

According to police sources, the SMC team raided the Kapurai area and seized a total of 500 boxes of foreign liquor from the truck, in which a total of 22,116 bottles were recovered. The value of the seized liquor is estimated to be around Rs. It is Rs 78 lakh. The police seized a truck and other materials along with the quantity of liquor worth a total of Rs. Goods worth Rs 93.06 lakh have been seized.

During the raid, the police arrested Daman Suresh Kumar Sharma, a cleaner from the truck, from the spot. However, the driver of the truck, Khilu Saini, managed to escape after seeing the police, who has been declared wanted by the police. Preliminary inquiries have revealed that the consignment of liquor was sent by a person named Joga Yadav, who has also been declared wanted. The entire network was found to be active in smuggling liquor from Haryana and Delhi to Gujarat.

A total of 5 accused have been booked under the Prohibition Act.

A case under the Prohibition Act has been registered at Kapurai police station in Vadodara against a total of 5 accused, including a local bootlegger and a smuggler. The State Monitoring Cell has registered a case and set the wheels in motion to nab all the absconding accused including the absconding driver and the mastermind of the liquor.
