reports, Kareena Kapoor was first offered the film, but the matter got stuck over the fees. It is said that Kareena had asked for the same fee for the film as the star of the film Shah Rukh Khan. After this, the matter could not move forward and the film went to Preity Zinta.

Karan Johar asked Preity Zinta on the show, 'Kareena was the first choice in this film, you were cast in her place. How did you actually feel?'
