An explosion took place at a firecracker factory in Tonk Kalan area of Madhya Pradesh's Dewas at around 11.30 am on Thursday. In this accident, 3 labourers named Dheeraj, Sunny and Sumit were killed. Initially, 8-10 people were reported dead. A total of 25 people were injured in the accident. Of these, 13 seriously injured have been referred to different hospitals. The explosion was so powerful that pieces of bodies were scattered about 20 to 25 feet away. Several people were badly burnt in the mishap and three women are said to be still missing. More than 200 women worked in the factory. The injured are being sent to the district hospital. The local administration and relief team have been rushed to the spot. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident on X. "District in-charge and deputy chief minister Jagdish Deora, home secretary and senior officials have been directed to reach the spot. An inquiry has also been ordered into the incident. The state government has directed to provide financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and free treatment of the injured. Locals present at the spot said that ammunition was being made by mixing two chemicals. In the meantime, the explosion took place due to lack of proper amount of chemicals. According to people, 15 to 20 labourers were working at the site of the blast. The explosion took place in the factory about 15 to 20 minutes before lunch. People said that the food of the employees had also arrived, but after the accident, people left the food and ran to save their lives. After the incident, the villagers gheraoed the commissioner, alleging that no action was taken against the illegal factory earlier. It is said that around 400 to 500 people work in the factory.
