Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi passed a message to his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, Riyadh said on July 2. According to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the message deals with “relations and ways to support and enhance them across all fields.” The message was passed by the Iranian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia during a lower-level meeting in Saudi Arabia, the statement said. The officials also reviewed bilateral ties and discussed issues of mutual interest during the meeting, reports said.Analysts see it as a push by Tehran to rally the region behind it following attacks on the country by Israel and the US. The message coincides with an op-ed published by Araghchi in which he called for unity among Islamic countries with a goal aimed at deterring Israel. Araghchi’s op-ed also claimed that Iran’s performance in the war last month “opens a new window for comprehensive diplomacy” in the Middle East. n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION3:12 ISRAEL ARRESTS “IRAN-OPERATED TERRORIST CELL” IN SYRIA5:00 ‘POLISARIO FRONT’, IRAN’S NEW PROXY TO CONFRONT US-ISRAEL?
