The civic body has started the process of removing the pressure to develop the Savarni embankment on Panchasar Road in Morbi. Today, 187 illegal structures were demolished by deploying machinery including 4 Hitachi, 10 JCBs and 10 tractors. With this action, 25,000 square meters of government land will be de-encroached, which has a market value of around Rs 80 crore. The civic body had issued notices to the Assamese thrice, but the pressure was not removed voluntarily. Deputy Commissioner Brijesh Kalaria said that the encroachers had removed the houses but did not remove the structures. Four DySPs, 7 PIs, 17 PSIs and 200 police personnel have been deployed for the demolition peacefully.
