Fire breaks out at hospital in Bihar after Delhi hotel, 5 dead; Police said they are in another hospital

Five people were killed and more than 20 injured in a fire that broke out in the ICU of a private hospital in Bihar's Muzaffarpur. The incident took place around 3 am on Wednesday. The fire was caused by a short circuit, followed by an explosion in the AC in the ICU, due to which the fire spread rapidly. As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade immediately reached the hospital and brought the fire under control. People allege that the staff fled the spot. Family members were seen carrying patients out on stretchers. The ICU ward is located on the fifth floor, due to which there were huge difficulties in the rescue. Firefighters rescued patients trapped in ICU and other hospital wards by breaking windows and doors. Three of the deceased have been identified as Geeta Devi, 57-year-old Uday Kumar and 30-year-old Shashank Kumar. One has not yet been identified. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressed grief over the accident. Meanwhile, many patients are reported missing from Prasad Hospital after the accident. The families of the patients have been raising the issue and demanding that the patients be brought back. However, police and the administration say they are undergoing treatment at another hospital. The family alleged that after the fire broke out, the doctors and staff of the hospital fled the spot, leaving the patients in agony. According to Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Subrata Kumar, there were 15 patients in the ICU at the time of the accident. Four people have been reported dead. The injured have been admitted to another hospital in the district. "Action will be taken against the hospital for negligence," he said. Some relatives are alleging that their patients are missing from the ward. Every aspect is being investigated.
