2 lakh people pay obeisance to Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on New Year; One lakh devotees have darshan at the Mahakal temple

People throng religious and tourist places across the country on New Year's Eve. There is a huge crowd at the Mahakal temple in Ujjain. Some members of the women's cricket team, including vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, have also arrived here to pay obeisance. More than 2 lakh people have visited Ram Lalla in Ayodhya till 12 noon. There is a crowd here too. Pictures of the first sunrise of 2026 have also surfaced from across the country. Devotees thronged the Banke-Bihari temple in Mathura. More than 1.5 lakh people have visited the temple till 12 noon. The temple administration has appealed to the people not to come for darshan till January 5. Meanwhile, a large crowd of devotees is being seen at the Vaishno Devi temple in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. To avoid chaos, the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has stopped the registration. New Year 2026: PM Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have extended their New Year greetings to the nation. Modi wrote in his post: "Happy 2026 to all of you.
