Now night checking in AMC hospitals: The decision was taken after quarrels between patients and staff coming for treatment at night

Hospitals and medical colleges run by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) have been receiving many complaints at night. The municipal commissioner has now directed the hospital authorities to conduct night checks in the wake of various types of complaints ranging from quarrels and misbehavior between doctors and staff with patients and family members coming for treatment at night. As many as 15 officers have been entrusted with this responsibility, each officer will have to check twice a month and put the details with photographs on the corporation's 311 application. 15 officers have been assigned duty. Doctors and staff will be checked at night at Maninagar LG Hospital, Saraspur Shardaben Hospital, VS Hospital in Ellisbridge, Nagari Eye Hospital, NHL Medical College and Narendra Modi Medical Dental College, Met Nursing College and Automatic College and Physiotherapy College. In the wake of incidents of some doctors and staff sleeping at night, the commissioner has instructed the officials including the assistant manager and deputy director of the hospital and college to conduct night checking. The photo has to be uploaded in the checking app Night checking of hospitals/colleges/hostels or other places of the municipal corporation shall include casualty treatment arrangements, cleanliness, presence of resident and other medical staff and other necessary matters. Photographs will have to be uploaded in the 311 app of checking. Attendance of hospital staff, cleanliness and other matters will be checked High standards of cleanliness in the hospital, security operations, disposal of biomedical waste, toilet blocks for patients and visitors should be checked. The hospital will also have to check whether the attendance of contract staff such as PCAs, nursing staff, security staff is met on the basis of biometric attendant and whether they are working at the assigned site. If the 24X7 reading library is running in the hostels affiliated to the colleges, as well as in the college premises and colleges, then it will have to be checked whether there is cleanliness and compliance with the rules. Apart from this, if there is a problem of water management, sewerage, lighting, any problem of lift, water leakage in the bathroom or toilet or utility, then its photos will have to be uploaded on the 311 application. Any other irregularities will have to be reported. Any issues in the application that go to the concerned authority will have to resolve the issue within the time limit.
