Delay in construction of bridge connecting AIIMS has cost 'Ample Construction' Rs 50 lakh, taking two and a half years to complete the work of 6 months.

The issue of strict action against the contractors who showed negligence in the work was discussed in the recently held general board of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation. After that, Mayor Dr. Nehal Shukla urged the officials to take special care of the matter and also expressed readiness to bring new rules if necessary. In this regard, the officials have started red-eyed the contractors who are negligent in the development works. Under this, a fine of Rs 50 lakh has been imposed on the contractor who delayed the work of 6 months in the construction of the bridge near Shantinagar, which connects AIIMS, by two years i.e. two and a half years. Not only this, the contractor has been paid only after deducting the amount of this fine. According to the conditions of the tender, the work was to be completed in 6 months Ample Construction was entrusted with the responsibility of constructing a bridge at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore in 2023 due to noise in the middle of the road from the city's 150-foot Ring Wrong Road to Shantinagar. According to the terms of the tender, the project was to be completed in just 6 months. However, due to the lax policy and negligence of the contractor, the work took as long as 2.5 years to complete. Notices were repeatedly issued to the agency by the municipal administration to ensure that the project was completed on time. However, the agency did not show any seriousness in the work. There was clear negligence in the work of the contractor: Atul Rawal In a telephonic conversation with Divya Bhaskar, Atul Rawal, City Engineer of the Municipal Corporation, said, "Usually, in any project, the time limit is relaxed as per the rules due to justifiable reasons such as side clearance, utility shifting, change in design or natural calamity. But in the case of this bridge, there was clear negligence in the way the contractor worked. The contractor had raised issues like delay in land handover and water in Vokla in rescue, but a thorough investigation by the administration proved all the claims of the agency to be false. The penalty action has been taken in view of the extraordinary delay that occurred after the water came into Vokla and even after the road was opened. If the work is not done within the time limit, there will be a penalty In the past, when the projects of the Municipal Corporation were not completed on time, the agencies used to get relief in penalties or the fines were waived off on various pretexts. But now strict rules have been implemented by the Municipal Corporation, if any work is not completed within the stipulated time frame, then a strict penalty of 0.01 percent of the project cost is levied every day. The public will benefit from the strict action of the Municipal Corporation It is worth mentioning that Mayor Dr. The strict work of the Municipal Corporation, which started with the order of Nehal Shukla, will greatly benefit the general public. Due to the timely completion of long-pending projects, the citizens will get permanent relief from traffic jams and traffic problems. Also, the government money will be used properly and in time. With this step of the Corporation, no contractor or agency will dare to show such negligence or negligence in the development works in the future, as now with the passage of time, special emphasis is being laid on quality and compliance.
