Rajkot Division has successfully tested a very important and commendable technological improvement in the railway sector. Modern drone technology has been used for the inspection of power lines (OHE) in the 31 km long section between Hapa to Kanalus. The biggest benefit of this new system will be to the general public and crores of passengers travelling by train. Modern drones will now be possible for live checking of railway lines, which will prevent incidents of trains stopping due to interruption of power supply in future. Trains will run on time, saving valuable time of passengers and travel will become safer and comfortable. Drone surveillance without stopping train transactions Usually, when the railway lines are to be repaired or checked, the power supply has to be cut off and the movement of trains has to be stopped. Due to this, many trains have to be delayed or cancelled, which directly affects the common passengers. But with the use of drone technology, the trains can be closely checked by running lines without stopping the movement of trains or taking power blocks. This will spare passengers the hassle of train cancellation or getting stuck at stations for hours. Faults will be identified by drones at an early stage Apart from this, this system will also prove to be a boon in preventing accidents and mishaps due to technical snaps in the railways. Since the drone has a high-quality camera, it can instantly capture even the smallest faults like small wires of power lines, loose connections or missing pins. Faults which are not visible to humans in manual inspection will be identified at an early stage with the help of drone cameras. As a result, major accidents can be prevented before they occur, so that passengers can complete their journey with complete certainty and safety. Safety of employees will not be endangered This technology will prove to be a lifesaver not only for the passengers but also for the railway employees. Earlier, railway employees had to go near high-voltage power lines and conduct dangerous checks, which posed a high risk of accidents. Now with the help of drones, this work can be done safely from a distance, so that the lives of the employees are not at risk. This revolutionary initiative taken under the guidance of Sunil Kumar Meena, Commercial Manager, Rajkot Division and DRM Giriraj Kumar Meena, will strengthen and modernize the railway network not only of Rajkot but of the entire Saurashtra. According to Electrical Engineer Vikram Meena, the checking will be done accurately and quickly with a drone that can fly continuously for a range of 10 kilometers and up to 50 minutes. The direct benefit of this entire technological upgradation will be in the form of time-bound, safe and reliable rail service to the general public.
