Rashmika worked 12-hour shifts in 'Thama': Director says 'Never talked about feeling tired, but it is also our responsibility to take care of the actors'

Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer 'Thama' is currently doing well at the box office. The film has earned Rs 116 crore in 12 days in India. The film's director Aditya Sarpotdar recently revealed that Rashmika worked continuously for 12 hours without complaining during the shooting of the film. Talking about working hours, Aditya Sarpotdar said- "Sometimes it is assumed that everyone will work 24 hours a day, but this is not healthy physically and mentally. I believe that a 12-hour shift during the shoot is appropriate and practical. It's wrong to do more than that. Sometimes it happens that people don't even get time to go home between two schedules, which is absolutely wrong," he said. He said, "As an actor, it is important to look good in front of the camera. We need to understand where this demand came from and why it is being made. Deepika has taken this initiative, so it is important to understand the reason behind it. It is not appropriate to make statements without thinking." Director Aditya Sarpotdar also said, "If you are an actor and feel that you can work with full energy for 12 hours, look good and give your 100 per cent, then why not? But if you think 8 hours is right for you and you can't do more than that, then that's okay too. Giving an example, Aditya said, "When Paresh Rawal joined this film (Thamma), his health was not good. There came a time when he said he would not be able to do the film as the doctor advised him to rest. Then we said, 'Sir, we will finish your work soon.' Talking about Rashmika, Aditya said, "Rashmika used to work 12 hours a day. She never said she was tired. "Maybe he's at a stage in his career when he can do it, but this rule shouldn't apply to everyone. I believe actors and directors should work together only if they agree on something." 'I work more than I should' Recently, in an interview with news website Gulate, when Rashmika was asked about fixed working hours, she said, "I work a lot, but to be honest, it's not right at all. This method does not last long, so do not do it. Do what is comfortable for you. Make sure you get 8 or 9-10 hours of sleep because trust me, it will save you in the long run. Lately, I've seen a lot of discussions on working hours. I have worked both ways and I can say that working more than necessary is not beneficial." On focusing on family and fitness, Rashmika said, "I find it difficult to say no to my team, so I work harder. But if I can decide for myself, I would say, please give us a 9 to 5 shift like the office because I feel the need to give time to my family as well, get enough sleep and exercise so that I don't have to regret it later. I think about my future, but right now I have no choice because I have taken on more work than I need to. It is worth mentioning that for the last few months, there has been a debate about working hours in the film industry and this discussion started when Deepika Padukone walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film 'Spirit'. Deepika's demands included an eight-hour shift, a hefty fee, a share of the profits and not to speak any Telugu dialogue. Deepika is set to become a mother in September 2024, so she is said to want an eight-hour shift five days a week. Sandeep was unhappy with all these demands due to which he was removed from the film.
